What are functional mushrooms?

Members of kingdom fungi, but vastly different than the gourmet counterparts at the farmers market, functional mushrooms shine brightest as medicine rather than food. They are known for their medicinal and health boosting properties and have been used in Eastern Medicine for thousands of years.

What are fruiting bodies?

Fruiting bodies are the fleshy, spore-bearing recognizable toadstool of a fungus. Fruiting bodies contain high concentrations of active compounds that deliver the amazing benefits such as immune support, antioxidants and resistance to stress.

Are your products psychedelic?

We believe that powerful benefits can be found in every single mushroom strain, even the trippy ones. Although all products sold on optimilife.com are strictly non-psychoactive, we are studying the use and effects of psilocybin through our parent company, Optimi Health Corp.

Are mushrooms a source of antioxidants?

Yes. Antioxidants help protect cells and reduce oxidative damage to cells caused by free radicals. Reishi and Cordyceps are both sources of age-fighting antioxidants.

Are mushrooms an immune supporting supplement?

Yes. The immune boosting benefit of functional mushrooms is widely studied and proven. Turkey tail, Lion’s Mane, Reishi, Cordyceps and Chaga all have immunomodulating properties, meaning they help support the immune systems’ ability to respond to threats such as infection, viruses and disease.

Are mushrooms considered adaptogens?

Yes. Adaptogens improve the body’s ability to fight stress and reduce the negative impacts of stress. Several functional mushrooms have been proven adaptogens including Reishi.

What are beta-glucans?

Beta-glucans are powerful fibres that occur naturally in mushrooms such as Reishi or Lion’s Mane. Our hot water extraction process frees these valuable molecules which improves bioavailability and allows them to do their best work.

Where do you source your mushrooms?

We proudly source our mushrooms from industry leading suppliers who produce supreme quality products. The mushrooms are grown and processed in China, in world-class facilities that adhere to cultivation and extraction methods that preserve the integrity and benefits of the mushroom materials. Our mushrooms are Certified Organic, GMO free and tested for heavy metals, pesticides, yeast, mold and bacteria.

Why don’t you source your mushrooms locally?

We are in the process of building our own mushroom production facility in Princeton, BC. We will be sourcing mushrooms from this location in 2022.

How are your mushrooms processed?

Our mushrooms are processed using only hot water over an 8-hour period to maximize the availability of the beneficial adaptogens and antioxidants in our full fruiting bodies.

Are your mushrooms genetically modified?

Our mushrooms are not genetically modified, in-fact, we prioritize Certified Organic and Non-GMO ingredients in all our products.

Are your products Vegan?

Yes, all Optimi products use 100% plant-based ingredients.

Are your products tested for impurities?

We’re committed to quality. All products go through a rigorous testing protocol to ensure they meet our quality specifications before being released into inventory.

Why is my protein powder so dark?

Primarily because the proteins we use in our formula (pea, pumpkin) are dark in nature. We will never use artificial colours to change the look or appearance of our products.

Should I talk to my doctor before taking mushrooms?

If you are pregnant or on medication, we suggest consulting your healthcare practitioner prior to using functional mushroom products in your routine.

How do I return or exchange an item?

We’re confident you’ll love your Optimi products. However, if a product doesn't work for you, we want to help. Notify our team within 30-days of purchase, telling us why it wasn't a fit for you, and we’ll get you a replacement or refund - no return necessary.

Do you offer free shipping?

We offer free shipping within Canada on orders over $50 before tax.
